WETLAND DETECTIVES
Scope of Learning Wetland Detectives examines the ecological role of wetlands and emphasises the need to conserve such ecosystems. Students are charged with the task of investigating the health of the Jerrabomberra Wetlands through a guided wetlands walk, water testing and quantitative assessment of macro-invertebrates. Their investigations are scientific in nature and an emphasis is placed on objectivity.
Prior Knowledge
Wetland Detectives can function as a stand-alone program and requires no prior knowledge for student participation. A basic understanding of wetlands can, however, be useful for initiating the introductory discussion. Wetland Detectives also provides an extension of the skills and knowledge acquired in previous visits to Birrigai @ Jerrabomberra Wetlands.
