Wetland Friends


Scope of Learning
Wetland Friends is a full-day program investigating wetland habitats, with particular emphasis on animal adaptations.  Learning activities include a guided walk, ponding and microscope work. The afternoon activity addresses animal adaptations through hands-on activities.

Prior Knowledge
It is beneficial if teachers can read the book “The Best Beak in Boonaroo Bay” prior to visiting.

Learning Achievements
Web of Life addresses several Essential Learning Achievements as well as many other Worthwhile Learning Achievements.  While students are engaged in their program, visiting teachers may find opportunities to assess their students on the relevant content of the following ELAs:

  • The student understands and applies the inquiry process.
  • The student understands and applies scientific knowledge.
  • The student acts for an environmentally sustainable future.

Recommended total group size  is 60 students (minimum is 20 students) with a ratio of 1:6
